If I have an active lease, but don't live there, do I have to pay for utilities?

Does your property require you to use SimpleBills? If the answer is yes, or if the property is the utility account holder, then you are required to pay for utility usage that occurs up until your lease date expires.

If the utilities are in your name or a roommates' name, you submit a request to change your end date. To do this, we will need your roommates to confirm you are no longer a resident and grant you permission to be released from utility responsibilities. Your portion of the utilities would then be assumed by the remaining residents with unanimous confirmation.

If you are subletting your apartment, it is suggested that the sub-lessor arrange to take over your lease and sign up for SimpleBills to assume your portion of the utilities. We will need to be informed of the situation in order to adjust your bill properly.
