A previous balance or balance forward comes from any unpaid portion of a previous bill. This may come from an adjustment when a roommate moved out or from a bill that just came in after you settled your account that month.
The previous balance is intended to keep us from invoicing you more than once a month and is always marked with the invoice number it came from. Don't worry you will never be charged a late fee for a previous balance if the bill was adjusted after you paid.
