What is a fuel factor charge?

Each year, electric utilities estimate the cost of resources needed to generate electricity for the next year. Without the fuel for electricity, there will not be electricity! The providers cannot make a profit on this estimate, and it is regulated by the state.

This estimated charge for fuel would be listed on a customer’s bill as a Fuel Factor Charge or Fuel Adjustment.
